Henry was born on September 8, 1829 in Old Alresford, Hampshire, England. He was the 4th child of William Rampton and Elizabeth Norgate Rampton. He was preceeded in birth by two sisters, Sarah and Elizabeth, and one brother, William.

We have photos of some of Henry Rampton’s children. All of his living children, by Frances Dinwoodey, are in a group photograph that you may download. The large original was given to Henry H. Rampton by Erma and Larry Eldridge in Caldwell, Idaho in 1988.
Erma Pace Eldridge is the daughter of Cathrine Rampton and George Vendorn Pace and is a granddaughter of Henry Rampton and Frances Dinwoodey. The original picture was photographed, and you will find an image in the Images section of the website. During the 2006 Henry Rampton Family reunion, the original picture in its golden frame was donated to the Bountiful Historical Museum by Jean Rampton Nelson.
All of Henry and Frances’ children except their oldest, Henry James, were born in Bountiful (Henry James was born in St. Louis while his parents saved needed funds to get them to Utah.) LaRaye also submitted photos of some of Henry and Ada’s children: a family photo of Mark Holbrook and wife Sarah Rampton and family, Thomas and wife Marietta Rampton, Malcolm MacDuff Rampton and wife Martha Gibson, and two photos of Malcolm MacDuff Rampton, one as an young man and one in his later years.
