It has been said among Rampton family members that Henry Rampton wrote his life history/abridged diary for many of his children, each with small variations. One of these original life histories has been kept and preserved by Jean Nelson, a second-great-granddaughter of Henry Rampton and great-granddaughter of Henry James Rampton. It was written in Henry Rampton’s own hand. Jean has willing allowed us to publish and transcribe this version for all to enjoy.
If you have another precious legendary version, please contact us.
In this life history, Henry records dates of his marriages, births of his children, family genealogy, homes and lands he purchased throughout his life, and other experiences and insights until 1896.
We are pleased to report that a second version of a Life History/Abridged Diary of Henry Rampton has been brought to out attention by the George Albert Rampton family. It contains minor variations and most importantly, missing words from the Henry James Rampton version above. It was hand-copied by someone other than Henry Rampton. This version has been in the care of Val Dean Gibby Garner, a great-granddaughter of Henry Rampton and granddaughter of George Albert Rampton. Upon her death in 1999, Val Dean gave her copy to her cousin, George O Rampton.
